Cruse Bristol & District relies heavily on its large team of highly-skilled and dedicated volunteers.
Although we already have a team of around 100 volunteers, we are always looking for more as each year a number of them retire or move away.
As a generalist, you can help to run Cruse Bristol and District Area and promote our services; this involves things like marketing, fundraising, communications, database management and office administration, or joining our management committee.
As a Bereavement Volunteer, you can directly support bereaved people in one-to-one sessions or group settings, or by dealing with enquiries and requests for help received by phone and email.
You can become part of the team which run our training and bereavement awareness programmes.
What is the reward for volunteers?
You will gain enormous satisfaction from making a positive difference to someone’s life.
You can also benefit from Cruse training (which includes nationally-recognised certification) and continuing personal and professional development.
Every hour of time given by a volunteer helps a child or adult face the future knowing that they are not alone.
“I had my first session with Cruse today and what a relief I feel now.
The volunteer was brilliant and such a caring lady. It’s amazing how just talking about the death can help such a lot. It turned out that we both had lots in common and I’m very grateful that Cruse is there to help me get through this awful time.
My mum is in a lot of pain as she is missing my dad such a lot. She told me she doesn’t want to talk to a stranger about his death, but today she changed her mind and is going to see a Cruse volunteer too. I am really relieved for her as I’m sure it will be a help to her. Thank you Cruse for being there.”
All our volunteers must undertake certain training. Those wishing to work with clients must first complete the Awareness in Bereavement Care course which requires a total of 60 hours of study.
Please contact our office if you are interested in becoming a volunteer stating in what capacity you would like to be involved. (Please ensure you let us know If you have already completed our training,)
If you are an existing volunteer you can log in here.
